Textiles Today: Exploring New Possibilities

September 14, 2019 — 3-6pm

Artists featured in the South Pasadena Arts Council’s current exhibition, “Textiles Today: Exploring New Possibilities,” at the SPARC Chamber Gallery, will speak about their work in “A Conversation with the Artists,” open to the public

Local textile artists Victoria Arriola, Cynthia Thiel, Melanie Ciccone, and Val Echavarria, whose unusual and diverse textile works are on display in the current group exhibition, “Textiles Today: Exploring New Possibilities,” will take part in a free “Conversation With the Artists” event at the South Pasadena Arts Council’s SPARC Chamber Gallery on Sept. 14, 2019, 3 to 6 p.m.

The artists will speak about their works on display, their techniques, materials, inspirations, and more; a Q&A with the audience and an open reception will follow. (Lillian Montalvo, the fifth artist featured in the exhibition, is unable to attend, but information about her work will be included.) The gallery will remain open for viewing until 6 p.m.

“Textiles Today: Exploring New Possibilities,” curated by painter and collage artist Shelley Stephens, runs through October 15, 2019. The SPARC Chamber Gallery is located inside the South Pasadena Chamber of Commerce at 1121 Mission Street. Regular gallery hours vary; call the Chamber at (626) 441 2339 to confirm your visit. (No need to confirm your attendance on Sept. 14.) Admission is free.
